Riding High With A Pair Of Mountain Bike Shoes
Extreme adventure requires specialized equipment and the most important when riding a mountain bike through rough terrain is a pair of shoes.
Traditionally, the material for this type of shoe was made of strong leather. Later on, it was changed because most bikes no longer had the toe clip or strap, which is very similar to those, found on regular bikes.
Since the power in peddling comes from the ball of the foot, it is only right for designers to make sure that the sole is slightly curved and very soft. This is because there will be times that you will have to dismount and carry the bike. When this happens, the mountain biking shoes become ideal for hiking until such a point that it is safe to ride again.
Surprisingly, this feature still makes the pair very durable and will last a few months before being replaced with new ones.
There was also a time that mountain biking shoes had straps similar to other footwear. These were removed later because the lace had a tendency of getting wrapped up with the pedal that has caused a lot of accidents, which had to be replaced with the velcro strap.
Here are a few things that you should consider when buying a pair of mountain biking shoes.
1. You should check on the firmness of the sole. A lot of manufacturers claim that the kind that was used in making it is durable. You can ask what material it is made of but it should be ideally made of carbon.
2. The mountain biking shoe should be both comfortable and breathable. Most bikers will be on the trail for more than two hours and it is only right that the pair purchased is able to provide good air circulation.
3. The last thing to consider is its weight. It should be lightweight so you won’t have a hard time going forward with the other things being carried on the trip.
Aside from a good pair of shoes, you should also get a helmet, a jersey and a pair of shorts. Nothing should stop the biker from pressing forward especially when going uphill.
All of these items can be purchased at the sporting goods store or online so you will be able to join a group who also have the desire to be close with nature.
