When shopping online and making any online purchases, one of the most important factors is your method of online payment. There are many payment options with the safest being by credit card and online payment services. But one is not limited to these methods alone. Other forms of payment may include the use of a debit card, personal check, official bank check, money order, or some type of escrow service.

Although some online sellers may limit their form of payment, most online companies will allow almost any payment possible. Though many methods may be offered, the credit card payment method is the safest method for the buyer, as it offers the most protection. Online payment services do offer some protection as well, which varies by company, but is still limited compared to credit card protection. For better protection when buying online, a big volume seller may accept credit card payment directly, but this is not common.

If both the buyer and seller have mutually agreed to go off of an auction site to make their transaction, of course only fist with thorough research and built in trust. A big must is to never send personal or financial information by way of email. Email is not a secure method to transmit any personal information what so ever. When doing these types of transactions it is best to either use a third party escrow service, or send the money in some form by mail. Competing the transaction by mail may take longer, but your safety will be well intact.

No matter what form of payment you have used, you should always check all of your financial statements. After competing any recent online transaction you should review your credit card or bank statements to check for any unauthorized charges. If your statements are ever late by more than a few days, you should contact these companies to confirm your billing address and balance. And always check your credit report annually; this will make you aware of any unauthorized transactions as well.
