HTC Touch Diamond is Better Than The iPhone?

Enter your email address:

So what do you think about HTC Touch Diamond being better than the iPhone? Some consumers have their own opinion and some says that even if iPhone lose the competition between both of them the coming iPhone updates will be amazing. Check some of cosumers opinions:

First: don’t assume that the HTC Touch Diamond will be better than the iPhone by the time it’s on shelves. By then, the Diamond will be squaring off against a 3G iPhone, not the current model. I don’t see certain things changing (the 480×320 resolution, for a start), but the sequel iPhone may also have GPS, a front camera, and other features that close any perceived gap.

As for app development, it’s hard to say where Apple will go. I’ve heard there may be some way to keep third-party apps alive in the background, but if not… well, hopefully this is just the first step. I can imagine Apple doing “round two” for software development once it feels security on the phone is less of an issue — if it feels security is less of an issue.

Whatever the case, I’d rather have a slick main operating system and somewhat limited third-party app support than nifty apps on a somewhat painful OS. The apps go away when you’re using other components of the phone; the OS is around almost the entire time.

No one is saying that the diamond is better than the iphone, just that what they have been able to do on their own is impressive, in spite of WM 6.1. Apple patented over 200 patents on the iphone so any company trying to replicate the UI will have to go about it in a different way, and HTC succeeded in doing that on a WM 6.1 device, if thats not impressive , i don’t know what is. Also the iphone uses a capactive screen which is as accurate as a stylus as opposed to a pressure screen which is not as accurate and requires a stylus. Also it is plastic as opposed to glass. Less memory, smaller screen etc.

Any WM7 application written for it will not be backward compatible with WM6 or 6.1 because of the Touch UI on WM7 uses a different UI and all applications will have to have that aspect incorporated into it. Also, WM7 is being built from the ground up in conjunction with Windows 7 and will have to have apps written just for it, it will be a whole new OS and OSX on the iphone ironically will have more apps available for it when WM7 drops.

Third party apps do run in the background very well on the iphone. It can multi task just fine for my tastes and uses. And I am a power user to the tenth degree. I run a business, so my iphone is my “user phone’ not my business phone, but I find allot of business is done on my iphone with Safari being to access the web and not a mobile web browser even with it’s current limitations, it seamless interaction with the web browser correlated with phone functions is a huge deal for me when looking up a business partner contact info and can call right from the info.

I don’t think third party apps will be limited at all, if anything they will come at a break neck pace and will be widely access able with the app store right on your screen. Let’s not forget about the webb apps that also are very useful. I have Mynetdairy webb app on my iphone that is a nutritional database and nutrition information database that counts each calorie, protein, carb, etc and tracks eating habits and allows you to make adjustments accordingly. I e’mailed the company and asked about a native app and they replied that they are working on one but it would not be as good as the webb app because the data base that they would be able to fit on a native app would pale in comparison to their database that the webb app uses. So it’s has some advantages for some uses.

This is an interesting paragraph:

The only phone that would make me give up my iPhone is the Nokia N96

So what do you think Which is better HTC Touch Diamong or iPhone and why?
